Sales Ideas: It’s Ok To Be Uncool
Always stay positive.
I am sure we all agree that a successful career in the financial services industry demands a positive and enthusiastic attitude. I just cannot imagine a negative person being successful, or even lasting long in our business, for one very simple reason. It simply is not enough to save for retirement; clients have to invest for retirement. And it takes a positive attitude to muster the conviction and courage to invest, conviction and courage they look for you to supply. Clients are certainly not going to act if they know you are hesitant or negative. As part of your job description, you are the motivator. It’s up to you to remain positive. That’s not easy.
Always stay motivated.
In a society where the emphasis is clearly and completely on self, it’s no longer cool to be positive. It’s much more fashionable to be negative. Don’t stop to help that guy lying on the sidewalk. Yes, he might be a heart attack victim. But what if he’s just a drunk? It would be so uncool and so embarrassing to stop, only to find out he’s just a guy passed out drunk. Just keep on going. Be cool.
It’s hard to be positive and enthusiastic when the whole world prefers to be negative. How do we stay pumped up when everyone wants to drag us down? Who motivates the motivator?
