Sales Idea: Learn to Market Yourself.
Last month we decided that the first thing you can count on when selling commodity-like products is that similarities do not sell, differences do. "Who are you and why should I do business with you?" is perhaps the toughest question you will face in your career. Consumers can buy our products from any firm and individual they choose. To excel under those circumstances, you better be different.
The Difference Between Selling and Marketing.
The second thing you can count on is that there is a lot more to our business than simply selling products. In addition to selling products, you must learn to market yourself if you want to ease the arduous task of getting to the top. There is a big difference between selling and marketing. The Advisor who understands this and takes advantage of it will be light-years ahead of the competition.
I urge you to hone your selling skills until you are the best sales person in your town. Then learn marketing skills and hone them as well. You will be unstoppable.
