If you were the one awarding points and saw a male skier decide to ski through only 40 gates, how would you react? If a female skier decided to hit only 30 gates, what would you do? You would disqualify them and deem them unfit for the competition.
If a golfer quits after sixteen holes, would you allow him to count his score? Of course you wouldn't.
